Little Orlando
‘Here comes the Barbatangheri!’ - International Festival of Figure Theatre and Popular Arts proposes:
Little Orlando: a traditional Sicilian puppet opera.
With Fulvio Verna Cuticchio, Tiziana Cuticchio and Sara Cuticchio
of the Compagnia Ippogrifo
Orlandino, son of Berta, Charlemagne's sister, spent his boyhood hiding in the woods near Sutri. One day, intent on finding food to feed his mother, he moves to the nearby Latium village, where he befriends a group of young commoners who invite him to take part in a joust. He proves his valour by winning them all, even Oliviero, son of the governor Rainiere. As fate would have it, Charlemagne, after his coronation in Rome, stayed for a few days in the town of Sutri, into whose royal palace Orlandino managed to cunningly enter and be recognised. Charles thus sees his sister again and discovers that the child is his nephew. With joy, they will all return to Paris where Orlandino will start studying to one day become one of the most valiant knights known in history.
Event organised in collaboration with Biblioteche della Paganella.
